The spring sports season has officially begun at Central, and with it comes the defending state champions boys’ tennis team’s season. This year, the team is missing two key players, Martin Joyce, senior, and Michael Lorenzini, junior.

However, even without these players, the team has still maintained their confidence. “We as a team have adjusted by staying confident and focusing on our goal of winning state. Although Mike and Martin will be missed, we as a team still feel like the state title will be in our hands on May 30,” said Lope Adelakun, senior.

The team has won three consecutive state titles, and do not expect to stop the cycle now. “As for expecting a state title, I have confidence we can win this thing four years in a row. That’s the goal,” said Adelakun.

Over spring break, the team traveled to Tennessee to participate in the Nationals tournament. They placed third overall.

This year there are three graduating seniors on the team that will be moving on to play at the college level, Daniel Holland, Eddie Grabel, and Lope Adelakun.

College players:

Daniel Holland: Colorado College

Eddie Grabel: Dartmouth

Lope Adelakun: University of Wisconsin

Michael Lorenzini: Northwestern (not playing for the school team this year)

Martin Joyce: Ohio State (not playing for the school team this year)
