As summer break approaches, here are some of the most swoon-worthy vacation spots for your next getaway

While some of us choose to stay close to home for various breaks, I was struck by a bout of wanderlust and chose to look into three luxury destination vacations and how to make the best out of them.

Bora Bora, French Polynesia

Home to, in my opinion, the most beautiful blue waters on earth, the Four Seasons Bora Bora boasts five-star quality in villas that practically float on the water. The possibilities here are endless, with something that is bound to suit your entire family.

Relaxing activities here include a full service spa, various exercise classes at the full fitness center as well as a pool and ocean access from both your villa and the main buildings.

For the more adventurous in your group, activities such as paddle boarding, kayaking, kite surfing, jet boards, as well as snorkeling, swimming with sharks, parasailing and even kayaking are available.

The surrounding area is beautiful as well, with both a “safari” experience and ATV tours that you can book through the hotel. The culture is also rich and full of life. You can explore the ancient ruins and fully immerse yourself in the Polynesian culture by witnessing the fire dancers at one of the many events.

Overall, the Four Seasons Bora Bora has something to offer everybody and would keep you content for as long as you’d like.

Machu Picchu, Peru

Machu Picchu is known for its breathtaking ruins set within the mountains of Peru, and at the Belmond Sanctuary Lodge, you experience both from the luxury of a five-star resort.

This hotel boasts the only location within Machu Picchu, giving you unrivaled views and a once in a lifetime experience.

The resort contains a spa as well as multiple yoga and meditation centers, perfect for finding your peace amongst the native flora and fauna.

The most enticing activities, however, lie in the ruins, and the resort offers a multitude of tours and hikes throughout the vast ruins. Because of the resorts proximity to the ancient site, guests have access to them at times either before or after the public, giving you a more serene view of the scenery.

The culture is also exceedingly rich, and through the hotel you can enjoy an authentic pachamama tribute ceremony, an ancient ritual asking Mother Earth for prosperity. In addition, you can have an Andean priest give you a personalized coca leaf reading, an enriching experience for those interested.

All in all, the Belmond Sanctuary Lodge offers an experience like no other, and for those looking for a vacation unlike any other, you will not be disappointed.

Sabi Sand, South Africa

The rich African bush is especially prevalent in the Sabi Sand region on South Africa. Singita Boulders Lodge leaves nothing to the imagination as it takes full advantage of its prime location. Set in the middle of a private game reserve, the sightings you get here are unlike anywhere else.

This luxury resort offers a variety of experiences, from twice a day safaris led by expert guides, to wine tastings and local community visits, you will have no shortage of things to do.

The safaris take place in the morning as the sun rises, and at night while the sun sets, as these are the times the animals are most active. Your open jeep in combination with experienced guides will allow you to get breathtakingly close to a variety of wildlife including the Big Five: lion, rhino, leopard, elephant, and water buffalo.

Besides the immersive drives, the middle of your day can be filled with anything from spa treatments, to wine tasting, or relaxing by the pools either within your suite or in the main area. The resort pulls out all the stops, providing the utmost luxury to ensure your comfort throughout your stay.

Another part of staying at Singita is the stargazing unlike anywhere else in the world. Its separation from modern society gives you an immaculate view of the stars and the Milky Way galaxy, sure to leave guests of all ages speechless.

In all, the resort is everything you’ve ever dreamed about, and having stayed here, I can say it will certainty not disappoint.

Though it is most likely too late to change your plans for this year, if you’re feeling the urge to push your boundaries and experience a trip unlike any other, all three of these resorts will ensure you have the best break possible.
